Gabrielle was founded in Pointe Noire, Congo Brazzaville,
in March 2004 following a report prepared by the future President
of the Association, the management of the Netcare clinic in
Pointe Noire and two Congolese friends of the future President,
all of whom were highly motivated by the subject of AIDS in
Central Africa. The report concluded:
There are practically no preventative measures aimed at the
preadolescent population.

A plan of action was immediately devised to create the Association
in Brest, France, home town of the founder. The Congolese
co-founders recruited eight Congolese teachers, sufficiently
motivated to work on a voluntary basis.

The following strategy was defined:
Educational activities in the schools of Pointe Noire for children 8 to 13 years old. Training of the teachers by the Senior Doctor of Netcare. Production of two teaching aids: A cartoon strip and a song.
Perform all the local administrative formalities necessary to operate.
Raise the necessary funds.
This was how Gabrielle commenced its activities at the start of the new school year in October 2004. 26.176 childrens and adults were familiarised at June 30th, 2010 (11.984 childrens and 500 adults this year).
